12 PM • Sustainability in the Music Industry: Insights from London Music Office, Canada's UNESCO City of Music

As a UNESCO City of Music, London is invested in sustainable urban development, placing music and creativity at the center of policy and decision-making at a local and international level. This presentation is a highlight of SCREENxSCREEN 2024 and divess into the critical theme of sustainability within the music industry.

The London Music Office will share their unique insight and experience in integrating sustainability into the heart of community development. Participants will learn about innovative strategies and practices that not only promote environmental responsibility but, also ensure the long-term viability and growth of the music industry. The discussion covers a range of subject matter exploring how music supports Sustainable Development Goals including SDG #13 Climate Action through eco-friendly events and greening of audiences. The UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals will be discussed with tangible actions supporting SDG #5 Gender Equality, #8 Decent Work and Economic Growth and #10 Reduced Inequalities.
